Welcome to the team, Agnes!

Before the summer we have been advertising a vacancy for our digital marketing trainee program and the responses - quite frankly - were overwhelming. So much talent out there from great schools and excellent, highly relevant courses. In total we received upwards of 80 applications, with dozens of qualified candidates to go through. After some email correspondence with applicants we brought our top ten or so picks into the office to meet the team and for some thorough interviewing. In the end it was Agnes Erdmark who has been chosen as the best fit for us and our clients this time around.

How to win Search Engine Optimization in 2018 (and beyond)

Search Engine Optimization is probably one of the most dynamic fields within digital marketing. What you knew about SEO 2 or 3 years ago may be of historical value but will not make a page rank high in 2018. Unless you manage to keep up with the evolution of search behaviour from a consumer perspective and the ranking factors of search engines from a Google perspective, you are guaranteed to miss vital aspects that may prevent your or your client’s page from being in that top quarter of the first search engine results page.

Don’t make your analytics an afterthought

Many of the organisations that approach us for help have a solid tech setup, including web reporting. Oftentimes Google Analytics comes out of the box with modern CMS and web solutions. However, we still come across brands that do not pay enough attention to their analytics or at least do not get the most out of it. There still seem to be some habits, especially within IT functions, that need to be overcome. When you launch new pages and webs hops, when you do any business online really, don’t make your analytics an afterthought.

Many of today’s businesses are lacking digital vision and strategy, and are held back by a somewhat conservative mentality and company culture. Our solution is to analyse and optimise (digitize where possible) processes first. We are looking at technology as an enabler for process improvement secondly, and only then do we look at the competencies needed to drive and leverage this process focused tech setup, by identifying the right people profiles. But what qualities are needed in new hires to future-proof your business?

The new mandate of the CMO

One of the most popular topics in our industry is to elaborate on how the role of the CMO has changed, or will change in the near future. We believe the transition has been ongoing for a while, since the role has without a doubt changed a lot already. And our view is that there is actually a lot more coming for the CMO - good, but also challenging things. The area of responsibility will continue to broaden dramatically, and in many companies a CMO is next to the CEO the most important person around already.

The four letters you may not want to hear, but will: GDPR

If you checked your inbox lately, you’ve probably seen emails like the ones in this post. The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is upon us and organizations are reaching out to customers to confirm consent to ‘staying informed’.
